ICE Sprint 1-26

A review by Shari Bernhard

The ICE Sprint trike is misnamed.
It should be the ICE SMF for So Much Fun!

Not only does the WOW-FACTOR make it turn heads - if you're an introvert, don't get one of these - but the cruising comfort, stability and peppiness makes it a fantastic platform for any level rider.

I am totally impressed with the build quality, component spec, adjustability, and foldability of the Sprint.  I had a trike for several years some time ago and enjoyed the ease of use - just jump on and go.  However, while it was very well-built, the seat shape was not comfortable for me.  With the seat on the Sprint, I can't imagine anyone not being able to ride this trike for 50 miles first time out.

And if you think trikes are inherently slow, think again. I got this puppy up to 22 mph for about 1/4 mile, and that's with wider touring-type tires!  Slap some high pressure road rubber on, and you could be riding with the big dogs with no problem.

The Sprint is a smooth-riding trike with a quiet drive train.  It's remarkably lightweight and has some really great features:

  • adjustable seat recline angle that goes from an easy-on-the-neck 44 degrees to practically luge-flat in seconds, thanks to a very accessible quick release setup

  • super-fast seat removal involving the aforementioned seat-adjustment quick release and two simple, yet clever, clamps that hold the seat bottom brace to a tray welded to the frame

  • individually adjustable handlebars - each bar can be moved in or out, forward or back, to completely suit the individual rider's needs with a quick release lever on each side

  • quick folding frame - remove the seat, move the handlebars down and out of the way, open a quick release on the frame and flip the back wheel over - it automatically tilts the wheel horizontally to lie flat between the front wheels.

If I could sum up the Sprint in one word, I'd say "playful."  Riding this trike was like being a little kid again, and for a woman well into middle age, that's a real gift.
